We're one month away from the wedding! We're both very excited. All the planning is done, the favors are in and just need to be put together, and the vases were ordered! We picked out Josh's tux last week, and he looks rather handsome if I do say so myself! We're still a few short on the RSVP's, but its alright, as we are able to invite a few more that we missed the first time! I would have to say that the only bummer that has happened is that the hotel is out of rooms for the night of the wedding, which is kind of stinky, but as far as bad luck goes, its not that bad (I'm throwing salt over my shoulder and knocking on wood as I type). We also paid off the honeymoon to Disney! We're both ready for a vacation, and we're lucky that we can both take the time off from work to go. Speaking of work, Josh has been super busy at Transit, and has his first CDL trainee! I started my new job as the preschool speech pathologist in Milton, and I love it. Josh was so good, he bought me a dozen roses as celebration for my first day of work! awww, I know, I found a good one :-). Good thing, since we're getting married in A MONTH!

Its been months, I know. Life has been pretty chaotic for both Josh and I. However, Josh is away for awhile doing Boy Scout-y stuff, and being lonely, I thought I should finally update!
General life update: Josh has a new job! He's a CDL trainer now where we work. He teaches people how to drive the big buses and gets them ready to take their driving tests. Its pretty cool, with nice flexible hours and benefits! yea! I have a job lined up for the fall at a pre-school a few minutes north of where we are now. Its exactly the kind of place that I wanted to work, so I am wicked excited. I need to finish my thesis first however.... and my last clinical rotation. My car has new tires.
Wedding updates: We found an officiant for the ceremony. A few months ago I had a freak-out thinking it would be impossible to find one this late, so I spent the weekend searching, sending emails, and making phone calls. We found one by the end of that week that we really like, and will match well with us we think!
We also found a florist to do the centerpieces. Much like our other appointments, we got there early, had a 15 minute appointment, and were out of there with our decision made before our appointment was even supposed to begin! They will be small square glass vases (we wanted something small, I hate sitting at a table with people and not being able to see them because stuff is in the way!) with white spider mums and viburnum, with a ribbon wrapped around the outside. Very classy and simple! I ordered the invitation kits, and have started printing them out. I'm almost done, but need togo out and buy some new cartridges. They don't have any color in them, but our color cartridge was almost empty and leaking a bit. I planned on just taking it out, but our printer is evil and won't print without both cartridges in there! Oh well, I'll probably finish those up this week while procrastiating.
We booked our flight to Orlando. We got a really good deal on roundtrip non stop flights! We also bought our rings last month. Josh kept saying he was amazed how inexpensive it was compared to my engagement ring :-)
I think that is about it. We are just about done. Josh needs to go get his tux, and we need to order our favors, but that is it! We're both so excited and ready for October!!

Early January: TRAUMA!! Our invitations were discontinued. I cried. I had a bridezilla moment. I spent my counseling course searching for new invites :-). I found better ones, but it meant we had to print our own. A few trials and screams later, we have it all set up. Just have to order the final bunch and finally print them all! Cheaper and more original.
Early January Part 2: Set up the reservations for the honeymoon! Wooo!
Mid January: We head to theHighlander Inn to do our wedding tasting. Pretty fancy. We got to meet all the people who were getting married around the same time we were, and have all sorts of fun discussions. They were all very nice, and we were the last table of people to leave at the end of the night! We decided on our appetizers, menu, and wines. They even made me a special vegetarian meal so I could taste it... I was the only one! Super fun.
Early February: Its cake time! We went to Fredericks Pastry in Amherst, NH to pick our cake out. We knew the style we wanted, but had no idea what flavor we should get. The woman was super nice and suggested we try all these different flavor combinations... mmm... free cake at 10 am. We ended up with a delicious combination of a traditional gold cake with fudge and strawberry filling and buttercream frosting.... I dont think we will be sharing. I am going ot keep the design and surprise, but if you want to try and guess, head over www.pastry.net and see!
Mid February: We go to Manch-vegas to pick out our chair linens. The fastest appointment we have ever had. Walked in, met the guy, pointed to the ones we wanted, signed a form, and were out, 7 minutes. Fantastic.
Late February: Time to register! Josh and I have spent this past weekend looking at all the cool stuff we want. Registering seems odd, especially to Josh. But he's totally into it now. We decided on Crate and Barrel, Target, and Bed Bath and Beyond. Necessary and fun stuff!
Using my future seeing magic 8 ball, I forsee the following for March: - searching for centerpieces - finding an officiant - paying off our honeymoon - more frequent updates of the journal....

Happy 2007! Whoah! 10 months till we get married! 2006 was a very busy year, but I have a hard time believing it is already over. No real wedding news to update on. We are going on the 16th (I think... I'll have to check on that) to go and do the food tasting at the Highlander. They have all of their "preffered" vendors there as well, so we can try out the cake stuff and the centerpieces while we are there. Nothing like multitasking! Still haven't found an officiant, but that doesn't worry me...yet!
We hope everyone has a wonderful 2007, and this stretch of warm weather continues!

Long time no update! Well, long time no new wedding plans. However, after irrationally freaking out about how soon the wedding is (when I still have over 10 months to plan), I decided to tackle one of the two major obstacles to finishing the plans - the Photographer. We had looked in the area, but were disappointed when many were booked, way to expensive, grumpy, or hippy-crunchy. I spent a week in Douglas to visit some doctors, and visited a VERY crunchy photographer with my mom. I was pretty bumed.
But then, I looked into a photography group who I had initially dismissed. I was pleasantly pleased with their online gallery, so I dropped them an email. The owner called me back (this was late Saturday afternoon), we were able to set up an appointment to meet, and she was extremely helpful. So Josh and I took the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to head out to Rye to meet Sue from The Wedding Photographers. We got there a few minutes early and got to meet a woman who had just used Sue for her wedding, and she was able to give us a very detailed review of how well everything went. The meeting went very well, and she was actually able to show us a wedding she had shot at the Highlander Inn this past October! It was great to see the hotel in the fall, since we booked in early April. We were very impressed, and after chatting it over with Mom and Dad, we decided to have Sue do our pictures. The final packages are HUGE, everyone will get copies of the photos! So we put a deposit down today, and we have one less thing to plan! yea!
I hope everyone's holiday was great, and they got to enjoy some time off. Only two more weeks until December break!! I am so ready to be done with this semester. While we were in Douglas, Josh and I helped to move the last of Pat and Kate's stuff out of the Douglas house. They had a ton of stuff, but it was good to see that they were able to get everything into one truck. They're driving down to their new home today, thats one long trip! Some day, we'll own a home... goodness, that hurts to think about, lets just worry about what everyone is going to eat at the wedding. Chicken or veggies? Chocolate cake or vanilla cake? Can I get an angel food cake????
10/5/06 09:36 pm
In one year and one day Josh and I will be getting married!!!! We do not have a ton left to plan - just photographer and officiant, and we need to go do the food tasting, cake tasting, order the invites, favors, place marker thingies, decide on centerpieces, and get Josh's tux. Phew. Oh, and plan the honeymoon!! The best part!
On a completely unrelated yet very exciting note - the newest Target just opened up the street. While I was not impressed with this online services, I cannot resist their in store selection. I did well and did not buy anything tonight - yet I may go back tomorrow and pick up this great sweater that was dark green and soooo soft.
Finally - on a VERY exciting note - big brother and sister-in-law Pat and Kate have been searching North Carolina for a new home, and may have found one! I'm so happy for them!
I hope everyone enjoys their long weekend!

This Saturday I took a trip down to MA with Julie to meet my Mom, and we took off go get a wedding dress! The woman who as assisting us was wonderful, I just have no idea how to pronounce her name. I tried four different dresses on, and while they were all beautiful, one really stood out for all of us. I absolutely love the one I got. Its actually very comfortable (as long as I don't sit down) and fit right off the rack. It only needs a little hemming, as I will not be wearing heels, but that does not have to get done until next July. It was great that I actually got to take it home right away. Some parts are on order, but I do have visitation rights for the rest of it down at Douglas. I'm sure that I will be down there visiting it frequently, making sure that we bond. However, there will not be any posted pictures of it, as one of the few traditional things Josh and I are doing for the wedding is that he is not going to see the dress before the big day. Its going to be so hard to keep it a secret! Its odd that we still have over 14 months until the wedding, and I feel like we have planned so much; but at the same time, have so much more to plan.
Current Mood: accomplished
6/19/06 08:29 pm
We have both been so busy with school and work, and now Josh interviewing for REAL jobs, we haven't even really thought about any wedding plans. But, that is why we wanted to get so much done earlier, we knew times would be crazy this summer! Hopefully going to go dress shopping in August, and maybe find a photographer. First, however, we have to survive July!! Enjoy the warm weather!
6/3/06 07:45 pm
Well, its been pretty busy with Josh graduating and summer classes starting. However, some things have come through and some decisions made. The Black Tie Band is officially ours for the wedding and ceremony. Also, Josh's Aunt Linda has agreed to do our flowers for the wedding as well! Finally, Josh's sister Emily, and my brother Patrick, have agreed to be our witnesses for the ceremony. One of the most important decisions (well, for us) is that we have decided to go to Disney World for our honeymoon!! Warm and fun! As the chaos winds down I'm sure we will make some more decisions and plans!
5/1/06 07:08 pm
Sort of weddding related - my future sister in law , Emily, is now Miss New Hampshire! The competetion was last Saturday, and Emily was wonderful! Congratulations to her and good luck as she goes on to compete in Miss America --- in Vegas! Depending on how the rest of the wedding plans and school goes, Josh and I will try to get out there to go see her, and maybe to some gambling too :-p . Good way to earn some honeymoon money! As for actual wedding plans, Josh's aunt Linda is a florist and has offered to do our flowers for the wedding, which would be fabu! We also did manage to get the Black Tie Band at the ceremony, which should also be fabu. Other than that, school has been way to crazy to even see Josh, never mind plan the wedding! We do have some time after all....
